If you use other email services other than Gmail like Yahoo or Hotmail, then you’re probably familiar with the stock email app that comes with the Android OS. K-9 Mail is just like the original stock app, except oodles of times better. Just like the original app, you can set up multiple accounts on K9-mail. After that, K9-Mail differs from the original email app.

Some things enhanced from the original app are:
- a dark and light theme
- configure font size for account list, folder names, messages, headers, and more
- date format
- gestures
- show account size
- touch-friendly view
- message stars
- account colors
- manage identities
- expunge messages
- and more.

There’s plenty of more features, though a lot of them I don’t know how to use, because documentation isn’t very good at the moment. For instance, I didn’t even know what expunge meant, until I looked it up in the dictionary. The only gesture I was able to figure out was scrolling to the next or previous email by flipping the page left or right.

If you’re looking for a more customizable email app then the original, try out K9-Mail.
